I thought my story was about heartbreak but it turns out it was about salvation

Updated: Nov 14, 2020

You’ve got to change the story you tell yourself about your life.

When going through trials and tests, we sometimes ask the question: What is the purpose of all this?

Well the purpose isn’t what you think it is.

Gods will has nothing to do with what I want or how I feel.

That’s why it’s called ‘Gods will’ not mine.

The other day somebody asked me how I was doing and I replied ‘I’m just embracing the uncertainty of life’

Their response to me was: Wow, that’s a mature and positive way of thinking.

The truth is: I have two options. I can even sit and sulk. Or I can get onboard with what God is doing in this season.

I believe that God has called me to be still.. to work hard and to pray in this season.

This has nothing to do with my personal happiness.

Servants don’t have time to worry about their needs because they’re too focused on looking after the needs of their master.

“Abandon every display of selfishness. Possess a greater concern for what matters to others instead of your own interests. And consider the example that Jesus, the Anointed One, has set before us. Let his mindset become your motivation. He existed in the form of God, yet he gave no thought to seizing equality with God as his supreme prize. Instead he emptied himself of his outward glory by reducing himself to the form of a lowly servant. He became human!” Phillipians 2:5-7 TPT.

Thinking back to when I first encountered the love of God in 2009, I’ll never forget the words He spoke to me ‘Everything that has happened to you.. has had to happen to bring you to this point. For you to find me.’

Wow. I was speechless.

Heartbreak, abuse, addiction to pornography, shame, rejection and abandonment.

You mean the purpose of all of that God was for me to find you?

It doesn’t always seem like it.. but all things are centred around the son of God (Jesus the Christ).

‘My story is filled with broken pieces, terrible choices and ugly truths. It’s also filled with a major comeback, peace in my soul, and a grace that saved my life.’

It has never been about you. Even the fact that the devil hates us is not even about us really, it’s about the one whose image we bear.

What is the story that you’ve been telling yourself about your life? And how can you realign it with Gods word?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Love,
